Avichai Brodutch thought his whole family had been killed when Kibbutz Kfar Aza was attacked by Hamas but a message from a neighbour raised hope that they were still alive.
When Avichai began a solo vigil outside the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv others began to join him.
