Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, has held meetings with the presidents of Paraguay, Uruguay and Ecuador.
Details: During his meeting with Paraguay’s President Santiago Peña, Zelenskyy thanked him for Paraguay’s strong support for Ukraine within international organisations.
Quote from Zelenskyy: “We are very interested in involving Paraguay in the implementation of our Peace Formula.”
Zelenskyy said he hoped that as many Latin American countries as possible would participate in the next meeting of advisors in January 2024.
The leaders also exchanged their thoughts on the possibilities of deepening trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Paraguay.
Zelenskyy invited Santiago Peña to visit Ukraine.
During his meeting with Uruguay’s President Luis Lacalle Pou, the Ukrainian President thanked him for Uruguay’s support for a resolution adopted by the International Maritime Organisation this December on the impact that Russia’s armed invasion of Ukraine has had on international navigation.
Zelenskyy highly appreciated Uruguay sending a representative to attend the third meeting of national security and foreign policy advisors concerning the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula. He said he hoped Uruguay would participate in the fourth advisors’ meeting in January 2024, at which preparations for the first Global Peace Summit are to be discussed.
The presidents’ conversation focused particularly on the possibility of holding a Ukraine-Latin America summit.
Zelenskyy also invited his Uruguayan counterpart to visit Ukraine.
At his meeting with Ecuador’s President Daniel Naboa, Zelenskyy discussed opportunities for the development of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Ecuador in the security sector, digitalisation, and trade in agricultural goods. Zelenskyy also suggested that Naboa join the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
Zelenskyy has arrived in Argentina to attend the inauguration of the newly elected president, Javier Milei.
While in Argentina, Zelenskyy spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron on the phone and told him that a positive decision from the European Council regarding Ukraine’s EU accession would provide strong motivation for Ukrainians, including Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
